Yay by Himmapaan Yay by Himmapaan
Yesterday, I handed in the last two illustrations for Just So Stories. The book is finally complete. A few people may be aware of the trials I underwent during its progress, both personal and connected with the book itself.

A feeble Fluttershy 'yay'.

It isn't quite over yet, though. I'm still signing and numbering the limited edition etchings for the book (as I did with the Rubáiyát).

I don't often like drawing myself, but I felt this expresses it better than, say, the crane portrait would.

You were right. On the inside, at least. ;) I don't like drawing myself chiefly for this reason.

Not at all. ^_^ You were still right; and in an ideal world, my outside would have also matched. *Sad smile*

Not so easily, nor so convincingly, alas. For some of us, at any rate...

Sigh.

No one said it was easy but still possible. It's a matter of deciding what would be the best option for you.

I've given the matter a great deal of thought. More perhaps than these few sentences might suggest.

I'm not sure I know what the 'best' option is. But I do know the one I wish to take.

The book is wonderful. I seriously hope they pay you fairly for the tremendous amount of work that must have gone into those illustrations! And your selfportraits are all manners of awesome.

Dear sun on the sky the book is so wonderful.
These are so unbelievably gorgeous.
You should be so proud, you should have a big band playing to your mightiness.

But again: another book i can't afford. Duh!

Thank you so much.

Yes, I'm afraid I can't afford my own book either. But let us hope this one does well enough that Folio are persuaded to release a regular edition, like the did with the Rubáiyát.

Your illustrations are so classic, Niroot! Timeless. The kind of illustrations that makes a child wish they could draw the same...

But the price - urgh! £445.00? It costs more than one summer of work, for me!

Yes, it's another limited edition, I'm afraid. You're not alone, I can't afford my own book either.

However, Folio have now released a reprinted, less costly edition of the Rubáiyát, as it did so well (it sold out within a month). So there is a possibility that this one might get that too if it does just as well. Fingers crossed.

No clue what (who) fluttershy is, but congrats on mostly finishing and surviving, though I'm sorry it's been such a trial!

Congratulates on finishing it up! That must be a huge relief. I know all too well how incredibly demanding, stressful, and requiring of a certain amount of soul-searching a set of illustrations for a book or project on a tight schedule can be.

I'm surprised to the depths of my pretty shallow soul that someone as classical-minded as yourself knows who's Fluttershy.
And that she goes Yay quietly.
Also, congratulations!

Haha, I didn't at first, but two friends independently of each other told me how much she reminded them of me: terribly shy, can't shout to save my life, and always late for everything. I saw a few clips and realised the uncanny resemblance. There was even a quizz/test that I did subsequently, which concluded that I was her.

Haha I did the same sort of drawing after I finished my music video project in the summer.

I called it the 'head desk hooray' because it really sums up the mixed feelings. =P
