Beautiful, I love everything about it. The colors, the textures, the way the crane stands out, how the red stands out even more and the snakes slightly hidden in the branches. Amazing work!

Beautiful piece, I love the composition and energetic twisting flow of the branches contrasting with the stillness of the bird. You have captured a delicate sorrow in this piece.

oh oh oh oh oh oh oh, my dear....I want this very, very, very much. Gah, the symbolism and the delicacy of the birds' fraught situation. And the looming tree seems as much a prisoner as the poor cornered bird.

I missed this one. Snakes on a two-faced tree. Ready to attack the crane? And is the crane's head coloured in the same red as his blood? Mmh.

If I may ask, what type of crane would this be? I'm not very familiar with North American birds.

Certainly. Though it isn't a North American bird at all events. ^_^

Do please read my comments on the piece, if you can. The crane is meant to be a self-portrait. It's most closely based on the red-crowned crane but with a few distinguishing aspects...

I was thinking it was. But with the lack of a rather obvious red crown, I wasn't certain. That's why I believed it might be an American bird since I'm still a bit unfamiliar with them. I'm from Egypt and have only recently moved to the States, so I ask that you excuse my ignorance. But if I may ask, have you ever thought of making a Secretary bird? Your art style would make for an absolutely gorgeous raptor such as a Secretary. Pardon me if I seem too forward, I simply believed that someone of your skills could truly bring such a majestic avian into it's natural glory.

The crown is there. That hasn't changed a great deal.

Forgive me, I thought you were commenting on another piece. It had a link to the self portrait in the description, which was why I mentioned reading it. They all relate to each other at any rate.

I'm not from the States nor living there either. ;)

I think I would like to draw a secretary bird someday. ^_^
