A curious experiment of a personal project. I've begun a cartoon/comic about (almost) unicorns (the 'almost' will become clear in time).
I hope to continue the story by producing a strip every so often until it finds some way of ending. It may turn out to be a very foolish idea indeed. I'm not sure how I'll find the time to do it, so there will in all likelihood be huge gaps between each new instalment.
The title, Unicorns, Almost, is taken from a play about World War II poet Keith Douglas, by the contemporary poet and playwright, Owen Sheers [link] , whom I admire a great deal. His title is clearly metaphorical, and I apologize for appropriating it in so blithe a manner for a very literal use on what may after all be a very silly and sentimental cartoon.
Scanned by a friend from a colour photocopy. The copy has made my sepia washes rather yellow, but there we are.
Your drawing ability is exquisite. The sepia still looks really good, and adds a fine atmosphere...I like your lettering...hope you find time to work on it.
Once again, so utterly amazing...You remind me of two of my all-time favorite artists, Albrect Duerer and Gustave Dore...just WOW... (Can't wait to see parts 2 & 3!!)
Devious Comments
I'm not sure that the story/theme is especially appealing or intelligent, but still - it's just for fun, I suppose.
I'm working on the second instalment as we speak (though I should probably be doing some proper work!).
...I'm affraid I shrink my comments of your pieces to this word...I can't invent another one...

Thank you so much for your kind words. I'm very, very fond of those artists too.
