Train Ticket Deer by Himmapaan Train Ticket Deer by Himmapaan
Red deer stag (Cervus elaphus). Pencil, sepia powder and tinted charcoal on train ticket prepared with gesso, approximately 85 x 54mm. The full view is much larger than the original.

The ticket is from when I was staying with my friend, palaeontologist and marine reptile expert, Dr Adam Stuart Smith. Adam showed me around Wollaton Hall and Deer Park, presently rather famous for having served as Wayne Manor in the latest Batman film. Though I must say I’m much keener on the deer and the natural history collection myself.

Beautiful! I collected my train tickets for ages thinking I should draw on them and never did - you've inspired me to get to it! :) Isn't Wollaton Hall great! I love the way the bird gallery has that Victorian cabinet of curiosities feel that's a combination of awe-inspiring and a bit creepy!

Wonderful idea!
(This would be excellent justification for my hoarding of tickets for no apparent reason.)

Ooh, wouldn't it be great if we would draw on *all* tickets a memory/reminder of what the journey was for?!? I have a huge stack of travel tickets by now, why didn't this idea occurred to me before? (As you don't need a ticket most of the time, you could always use your Oyster card for this purpose!) ;)

I've accumulated so many train tickets of late, but the real pity is that I recently threw a whole wad of them away just prior to discovering how useful they'd become after all. Always the way...

Noooo!! >.<
I'm sure the stack will grow very soon again, though! ;)

Now I will be even more crossed then the machine doesn't spit the card out at the end of the journey, as it is sometimes the case. It is very irritating, it happens often when I arrive back in Guildford late.
