Aesop's The Man and the Satyr.

Pen & ink and watercolour, Pencil, Gouache highlights.
297x420mm
Christmas card, 2005.

This was reduced onto A4 card (210x297mm) and folded into thirds, concertina-wise. I had a hundred copies printed (then proceeded to sit there, measuring, scoring and folding the things myself!). The cards were sent to family, friends, my publishers, agent, curators, etc. I think I sent them all and kept one copy for myself. I didn't get more than a tenth that number in return though... :)

Gosh, this story is so bitter sweet. Very lovely art to go with it.

I very much like this, Himmapaan, dear.

And it's good to see you back.

That is amazing. What lucky people your friends and family are, it would make my day to get a card like that.

You're a genius! Seriously!! Christmas cards with a story - that's a brilliant idea! So much more special than your average storebought pretty-picture card. The recepients must have been greatly amused! And you put so much work into them, too...

That sky is so pretty... And I love the bird watching from the tree. It's random sweet details like that that I find most entertaining in illustrations...

That's such a wonderful idea for a Christmas card, I'm sure they'll all enjoy it. The artwork is phenomenal.

Wonderful. I keep staring at the colors you used in the sky and wondering how you did it :)
