this is beautiful. I have the steady hand of someone shivering in an earthquake and the detail level of a toddler with crayons. my ego just took a hit and my pride? oh I haven't gotten any.

I never thought of Armadillos as graceful... but look at these beautiful creatures! :) You make them look lovely. Interesting choice to use violet/teal washes in the background. I love your delicate hand. Really nice work!

I love your works, they're a breath of fresh air in the midst of commercialism and oversexualized women everywhere! c:

Some of my favorite critters! I love the colors here and how they almost seem to be rolling downhill. Lovely!

Beautiful textures. I'm really impressed with how you have rendered multiple textures using multiple techniques. I would love to see progression shots of your work or a video.

Beautiful as always. I really like the semi-diagonal composition of this one, and the rich earthy-red hues.

Out of curiosity, do you ever use colored pencil atop the watercolor for some of the details? I'm eternally mystified at how people can manage such intricate detail with watercolor alone, especially on relatively small paper sizes.

Thank you, Emily.

I rarely use coloured pencil on top of the watercolour, though when I do, it's to enrich the colour rather than for detailed work, as I find that the graininess produced by the pencils actually means I can't work in detail. I'm something of a miniaturist and am happy working with very fine brushes. These are some of the ones I use when drawing (as in this piece). The ones I paint with are not dissimilar in terms of sizes (for the detailed work, at least).

Interesting, thanks for the information. I do have some very small brushes, but I can't execute detail to the level that you do. You must have a steadier hand than I!

Oh, I'm certain you can! I don't have an especially steady hand. I just rest it on several sheets of paper (to protect the work). :D
