TNBC, Tailpiece by Himmapaan TNBC, Tailpiece by Himmapaan
Tailpiece for The Night Before Christmas, by Clement C. Moore, published by Walker Books, 2007 .

You can see two views of the pop-up at the end of the book here: [link] .

Scanned from actual book page. The original silhouettes were drawn in black ink and gouache.

The jacket and two other illustrations from the book are here:

This book (my fourth) has done so well, completely to my astonishment. There are three co-editions: US, published by Candlewick Press; French, published by Editions Milan; and Japanese (I'm afraid I don't know the publisher's name for this...) The Golden Treasury Bookshop in Southwest London even reproduced the silhouettes for their window display last year: [link] .
This was also the first book I've illustrated to have earned me royalties. It was all quite bewildering...

Merry Christmas, all!

The dresses are just gorgeus, especially the underwear of the little girl and the white apron of the chambermaid ^^

Hehe, she is the children's nurse, though of course, one couldn't really tell. :giggle:

Ops, I didn't knew that! For what I've seen this poem is pretty well known in anglophone countries, but here is virtually unknown, I fear :P

Hehe, it's alright - it's impossible to tell just from looking. She was just my own addition. :giggle:

The window silhouettes are beautiful! And believe me, I understand why this book did so well. I loved it when I finally got to look through it in person! I love the way the cat and dog interact throughout too :)

Your art is amazing, I'm startled you don't get royalties more often. This is utterly beautiful.
