The Night Before Christmas, by Clement C. Moore, published by Walker Books, 2007 .
You can see two views of the pop-up at the end of the book here: [link] . Scanned from actual book spread. The original silhouettes were drawn in black ink and gouache. Apologies for the horrid stain on the text - I didn't realise it was there. *There's something noticeable about the decorations on the tree. Start from the top and work your way down... The jacket and two other illustrations from the book are here: [link] [link] [link] ___________________________ This book (my fourth) has done so well, completely to my astonishment. There are three co-editions: US, published by Candlewick Press; French, published by Editions Milan; and Japanese (I'm afraid I don't know the publisher's name for this...) The Golden Treasury Bookshop in Southwest London even reproduced the silhouettes for their window display last year: [link] . This was also the first book I've illustrated to have earned me royalties. It was all quite bewildering... Merry Christmas, all! |
