Promotional work for my agent. Part of a tree calendar which is being produced for this year and for 2014. Each of the artists does a section for their given month. All the sections join together to form one large tree.

I was given the month of June (of all ironies). I'm afraid I haven't given my branch an abundance of leaves, though it was approved thus in the rough stage, so there we are.

The dinosaur (ahem) is Urocissa erythrorhyncha; or red-billed blue magpie.

Sepia ink, sepia powder, watercolour and a little gouache on Arches hot pressed, 21 x 8.5cm. The full view is larger than the original. Here is a detail of the magpie.

I love the color contrast. Blue is my favorite color, and I like any art where the blue really pops out like this. Beautiful!

There isn't one online, I'm afraid. It's an actual calendar which is sent out by my agent as a promotional piece. But I can try and take a picture of it at some point.

Simply gorgeous. I have to say that one of the things I love most about your illustrations is not just your level of detail, but the detail in conjunction with your accuracy with the real creatures, like this dinosaur (hehe). I'm sure you know how rare that is, but I just wanted to say that it is noticed and appreciated as well. :)

Just...

I love the intricacy of your art, and I think I love it the most when the picture is so simple. Amazing use of colour!
