'Before the middle of the day, they were visited by Sir John and Mrs. Jennings...'
Sir John Middleton and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Jennings visit the Dashwoods. Illustration for the Bath Bicentenary edition of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, published by Palazzo Editions, 2011. Also available from Amazon, but please do try your bookstores.
Watercolour with touches of gouache on Arches cold pressed watercolour paper, 140lb/300gsm.
As it's been a while since I uploaded anything, and it is also Jane Austen's birthday today.
I recently found this slideshow on Palazzo's blog, which, to my very pleasant surprise, makes my work look better than it actually is good. Gasp.
I should not need to repeat this, but it's apparent that as soon as I stop, it restarts. Illustration, not 'fan art'. With apologies. ________________

Lovely! I can't decide whether I'm more taken with the subjects' clothing, or the quiet little behind-the-door expression. It's easy to feel like a part of the story when this sort of illustration comes up.
Beautiful as usual!

Think logic - Feel emotion - Speak balance.
The idiotic confusion with "fan art" drives me bonkers too.
