Quatrain LII

And that inverted Bowl we call the Sky,
Whereunder crawling coop't we live and die;
Lift not thy hands to It for help,
For It rolls impotently on as Thou or I

Is there a certain brand of paints you use I wonder?

I find I can't ink outlines well on cold press paper. You must be drawing much larger than me.

It's quite small, I think, for most people. The dimensions are in the description; is that larger than you usually work? ^^

I think being extremely slow might have helped with the inking. Although I now no longer ink first. Quatrain 48 was the last illustration in which I worked that way. For the colour pieces, I now do the linework after the watercolour stage, with gouache and/or watercolour and a very fine brush. All the Rubaiyat illustrations except Q. 48 were done this way.

Outlines? :? Oh, do you mean the white of the paper? :D

It's white gouache. ^^

Ooooo! I read their write up! Niroot! You're going to be a benchmark for future illustrators! *squee!* ^_^ Long may you inspire!

I have a pencil and I know how to use it.

I once asked for directions and they told me "You are here". Now if only I could find that on a map.

Something vaguely intelliglbe, yes >.>
Ah, gouache. I wish to play with that one day. Didn't think it could be watercolour.

Oh, that is pretty close to sizes I use.

I usually draw most details in with ink instead of finishing them with pencil. My pencil drawings aren't clean enough. If I didn't I'm not sure I'd know what I was painting. But I leave out parts I don't need an outline for.

With a brush it is probably easier. Using a small nib on textured paper is more difficult.
