*Update: 2nd July, 2009; file replaced
I have my original artwork for Pride and Prejudice back, so as with the Miss Bingley illustration [link] , a larger and better file of this has now replaced the previous one. Again, this is from over two years ago.

Pen & Ink and watercolour.
Pride and Prejudice was first written in 1797 (before Austen revised her manuscript in 1813), and the action was probably originally envisioned to take place around 1795/6. Although waistlines were beginning to rise then, this was still considerably before they had become the high Empire line most of us associate with Austen.
Mr and Mrs Bennet, as an older generation, would have still worn clothes of even up to two decades earlier.
I have my original artwork for Pride and Prejudice back, so as with the Miss Bingley illustration [link] , a larger and better file of this has now replaced the previous one. Again, this is from over two years ago.
