'She did take off the papers, but no cloud of ringlets appeared, for the hair came with the papers...

"Oh, oh, oh! What have you done?..." wailed Meg...
'

From Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

Another sketch from quite a few years ago; 2003, I should think? I don't know, I just felt like sharing it. I'm fond of it and I'm fond of the book, and I was suddenly reminded of it during this tiny opening of free time I have. :D So there. :giggle: I shall probably move it to scraps later.

I had read Little Women all in one go once when I was around 13; I caught a bad flu and I was throwing up and having all that wonderful feverish fun and I read this in bed. The problem is I don't remember much of the story because of that, only the fact that it was charming. :D

I do not comprehend the idea of incomprehension.

Haha! Such a classic scene!!

Seeing how many movie versions of it and reading the scene... ah, it never gets old. Poor Meg!!! And Jo!! :XD:

Lovely work, as always!!! You draw in such a classical, storybook/greek myth way, I adore it!!

Lovely! The details, figures, expression, all very nice. What really impresses me about this drawing though, is the fact that you have actually pulled the artistic style of the time period into your work. Beauty from another era! I love it.

I love the fluidity of your lines.

I have a pencil and I know how to use it.

I once asked for directions and they told me "You are here". Now if only I could find that on a map.

I remember this! I also remember looking up at my mom when she read this part to me and telling her I was glad we had electricity for our curling irons. I remember eating Goldfish Crackers and drinking super sweet tea while she read...

Now I get to read this to my nieces. Isn't it wonderful how life turns corners like that? How literature lasts... And how stories by women like Alcott, Austen, and the Brontë sisters can last so long that I can read Little Women to my sister's children.

Now I just have to find a book that'll interest my nephew!

Design can be art. Design can be aesthetics. Design is so simple, that's why it is so complicated.
