Happy New Year by Himmapaan Happy New Year by Himmapaan
I had almost decided against posting this here, but I thought it should provide some balm for the next piece to come.

There is also a progress stage here, if anyone is interested.

Ink and watercolour on Arches hot pressed.

Happy New Year.

I love the way they're running. 'galumphing' comes to mind. =) It may not be strictly accurate, but what good is illustration if we can't stretch the rules a bit? =D

Hehe, they come in many guises, Ileana. It may astonish you to learn that birds may even be classed as 'reptiles'. ;) And birds are indeed modern dinosaurs. :D

Nice picture! Though I'm a little doubtful as to whether they'd be light enough to support all their weight on one leg like that.

Not at all. (You may have missed its deliberate light-heartedness. ;)) None of them would have been able to gallop in such a manner. Perhaps the Styracosaurus might have been able to come close, but its gait might have approximated that of a rhinoceros rather than a horse.

It's watercolour. :) I usually include that information in my descriptions, but I thought people are familiar enough with my work so I rather overlooked it this time. ^_^

That's what I thought, but then I also thought colored pencil. Either way the result is beautiful, thank you for the bit of information. :)

Oh, yes, there are coloured pencil pieces too (not in this one though). I'm afraid I'm too forgetful these days about mentioning such things unless it's the formally published stuff, in which case I tend to list everything, including paper weight and dimensions. >.<

Thank you for your kind comments. ^_^
