Bleh.

Oh, very well, I'll add a few more words. Something must be decidedly askew if all I can bring myself to say is 'bleh', no? ^_^

Some uninteresting dragon studies, because I wanted to. It's been too long. Plus, year of the dragon, etc. My favourite of the Oriental dragon studies is the one on the top right, with its strong cervine head and slightly melancholic expression.

There is likely to be more such dragon sheets in due course, for good or ill.

Pencil, marker, coloured pencils, sepia ink and a tiny bit of gouache on laid paper, approx. 210 x 297mm.

I've always found Asian-style dragons to be so much more fluid and beautiful than European ones. I want to hug the melancholy one though! He's precious.

I often do too. Though I love both for different reasons, I think.

There's a story brewing about the melancholy one. Though if or when it ever materialises is another matter. *Facepalm*

Well, you know that I heartily encourage all stories and comics and such from you, whether they're about melancholy dragons or the frustration of computers. :giggle:

I actually like the one with the goat-like head. It's something new I guess... to see the great legendary carnivore given more of a placid, grazer countenance.

I love the vaguely apologetic expression on the face of the full-body European dragon, especially after your other recent dragon post ("generic-looking"). In that context it's almost as though the dragon is self-conscious. Rather endearing, really.

Lovely, as always! I'm particularly fond of your oriental dragon designs. They look so expressive :)

Whenever anything (like 'the year of') gets mentioned a lot, it has a way of winding up in sketchbooks, I find. =P Last year I had rabbits bouncing over my pages. These are beautiful studies; I love the way each dragon is very different. My favourite is the top left – it reminds me very much of someone I know, so I have the feeling that any moment it's going to start bouncing around like a flea, however quiet it looks now. =P
