Detail from The Elephant's Child by Himmapaan Detail from The Elephant's Child by Himmapaan
Watercolour on Saunder's Waterford hot pressed, 140lbs/300gsm.

A detail from an illustration for The Elephant's Child, from Kipling's Just So Stories, the book I have just completed and which I mentioned here. More about this shortly.

I'm told that reproducing the illustrations for this book is proving quite a task, with the colours and textures being difficult to match faithfully. The full view is many times larger than the original to give some idea.

DA's compression has defeated the point of my sharing this somewhat, so here is a link to the same detail in the proper resolution.

Dear god, be proud!

you are one of the illustrator who carry on the golden age of illustration.

And i dearly hope that they release an affordable version of this book.

You're very kind.

I think your response makes up for the hundreds of new watchers I've somehow gained recently who are apparently disinterested. :D

(Please don't mind me, I'm just worn out.)
