It won't have escaped anybody's notice that there have been a number of saurian things appearing in my gallery of late. An old (but never forgotten) passion re-awakened. :) I have just been drawing a few dinosaurs in the short break I've had in the past few weeks, and I'm about to become busy again; with more Classic literature, in fact.

Thank you to all, as ever!

Man, I find the oviraptorids just so enchanting. I LOVE how bizarre they are. And I LOVE how good of parents they are. One citipati was found fossilized on top of its fossilized nest!Happy cry (Tears of joy)

The illustrative style you've developed suffers from an abundance of awesome. Seriously, fantastic piece. How you did it on cold press is a subject of much musing, however, and to your credit that you did it so cleanly.

it's beautiful, and the amount of detail is amazing. did you use any pens/ink for the feathering? or is this purely watercolor.

The detail on the feather-work here is really quite good, as is the color-choice.

It is the very first MMORPG which changed the world. World of Warcraft came out just after. A lot of our digital dilect came from EQI. (like OOM - out of manna.) and oober is an EQI term.

Hehe, sorry I got on a roll.

Wow! Actually the finest depiction of Citipati I've seen so far. You most certainly did your homework, none of those embarassing errors usually repeated ad nauseam.

I'm really liking the color scheme on the plumage of your oviraptosaur, did you base it on any modern bird? It reminds me of a bluejay.

Very good detail and awesome job overall :)

The grey and great blue herons were my chief inspiration. :) Interesting how its blueness reminded a number of people of the blue jay.

Ahh, so gorgeous! Very blue jay-ish, too. :)
I've been at the dinosaurs a bit myself, lately. I didn't think they could get any neater than they were already, but now we're finding out that practically everything had feathers! I don't think I could be any happier with paleontology at the moment. :D

Or with this. Did I mention how incredible it is?

Thank you! Hehe, he was more heron-inspired than blue jay, but so many people seem to be saying the latter. :giggle:

All the maniraptorans had feathers, certainly, and it is still open to debate whether or not some of the larger theropods had at least partial feathers too. :D Evan showed me your Sinosauropteryx in the snow card. I wish you had uploaded it here! :D

Mayhaps because he's so bright a blue? Either way, it came out gorgeous. :D
The strides they've made in identifying dinosaur appearance lately are incredible. Keeping a close eye on paleontological news, it seems like every day they come out with something fascinating.

Aww, thank you! And I forgot, I've been so lax about DA lately... Will upload it tonight!

Whenever I hear or see this dinosaur's name I think of Frangipani and I secretly want to draw a small group of Citipait within a small field of little flowering frangipani shrubs <3

Back on topic, I adore your inkwork so much. Your colours are fantastic and soft looking too, I'll never get over how beautiful your artwork is :)
