Brave, Hopefully by Himmapaan Brave, Hopefully by Himmapaan
Ouranosaurus nigeriensis

I began this drawing around this time last year, had partially completed it, then promptly forgot about it. I decided to just neaten it up without doing further to it, so here we are.

The eye looks peculiarly large because of the way I drew the surrounding area. You may like to see this detail of the head. I had hoped to correct this too, but also decided to just leave it.

I would draw it with a little more bulk now. Let us call this one a sub-adult.

Coloured pencils, marker, sepia ink and gouache on recycled paper.

Beautiful piece of art, but I heard that the spikes of Ouranosaurus and Spinosaurus are more likely muscle-insertions rather than forming a sail, just like it works with American Bisons

In Spinosaurus it seems they were too tall to form a complete ridge (half of it would be a crest, with the spines covered, and topping this would be a genuine sail), but for this one a thin ridge is more likely.

And the guy who said this was someone who was absolutely against spinosaurs having thin sails (which is impossible even if the bones showed)

Since the "new" Spinosaurus is all around, you hardly see anyone of them with a hump. I suppose you are right

Even though I subscribe to the idea the sail was wrong, I cannot accept a full ridge either.

I thought 2013 was good but 2014 was spectacular, 2015 is going to be better

I love the delicacy with which you draw even things that probably would not generally fall under the delicate category ;) It's so graceful, and I love the gentleness of the colors.
