Adrift by Himmapaan Adrift by Himmapaan
Edited 18th October, 2012. File replaced with the sketchbook gutter down the middle of the spread removed (with many thanks to *Heliocyan). This ought to make prospective print buyers happier, I hope!

------

Adrift

Though perhaps 'Towed' might have been more apt a title.

Brown ink. Sketchbook spread, 260 x 210mm.

A friend remarked that, though humorous, there is yet an air of melancholy in the drawing.

I've got my print of this now! Just trying to find a frame that will suit it (and big enough to fit it in!) Personally I quite like the gutter down the middle, not sure why, I think it makes me feel like I've got a real piece of art, not a print somehow!

Thank you, Laura! I'm glad you don't mind the gutter. I was a little worried some people may be a little disgruntled to find this gutterless version if they'd already just ordered the previous one. But not many people did order it precisely because of that, it seems.

Wonderful work. What do you use to ink your work? I used to use these brown-ink Edding technical drawing pens but they don't do them anymore.

Thank you, Steve. It can vary; I use fountain pens, dip pens and brushes. This one was drawn entirely with a fountain pen, but these days I use a brush almost all the time, to the point where I've become awkward with a dip pen now!

I think I know the brown Edding you mean. I was fond of that too.

It's rather unfortunate that this was done in your (I'm assuming here) moleskine. I'd have gotten a print for sure if the bindings weren't visible. Sad face. Excellent piece.

You mean the gutter down the middle? For me personally, that doesn't necessarily detract from it, as I actually like seeing that it comes directly from a sketchbook/journal. But I can ask a friend to help me remove the gutter digitally if there's enough demand for it...

I can't qualify as enough of a demand, but as I said, if it weren't there, I'd buy a print. It doesn't necessarily detract from it, not really. But as something you'd put in a distressed, white washed baroque frame.... yeah, a little bit.

I don't really know about the options you have with your prints as I've never sold any myself, but you seem to only offer this in wrapped canvas and photo quality. Can you offer it on the art paper or is that some special feature?

Unfortunately, the fine art print sizes don't match my artwork, so I can't enable it without losing chunks from it. The photo prints are still excellent quality. The best you can do would be to choose the matte finish, I think.

I'm just picky. I'd rather pay more for something that looks quality but I can't drop that kind of cash on wrapped canvas. XD
Either way, I got one. Thanks for fixing it up for me. Awful sweet of you.

There definitely is a touch of melancholy - I think because of the lady's expression. Very nice drawing though :)

Thank you so much!

I hope I didn't sound 'short' in my last comment by the way. I wasn't sure whether your original comment had intended any sarcasm or not -- which now obviously I see it didn't!

I have been on dA too long, it seems. One meets with all sorts... ^^;
